![]() This was my first order from Scout and Nimble and I am already looking forward to ordering more from them based on this experience. She was professional, communicative, timely in her responses! Her easy communication meant my anxiety over the delivery was nonexistent and, after years of dealing with this, I truly could not be more grateful. My desk took awhile to arrive- as was very clearly communicated to me when I ordered it- but as the date neared and I was checking on the shipping status, Diana Harris was an absolute angel to work with. We had a house under construction when COVID hit and have experienced every furniture delay and frustration there is out there right now. I can't say enough good things about my first experience working with Scout & Nimble! At a time when everyone is overloaded and backordered and overworked, S & N was a true standout in showing how much communication is key. I'll be shopping elsewhere in the future. When I shared this felt like a lot of hoops to jump through, the associate interrupted me and told me all of this was in writing in their policies. Luckiily mine could however, the associate then told I would need to email their customer support (she couldn't start the process over the phone.) Then she shared that I could receive a full refund if I wanted it in the form of store credit, but if I wasn't interested in store credit, I would have to pay shipping (both their cost and my cost to ship back which amounted to over $100 for two small pendant lights) for the items. The associate I spoke to said she would first have to check to see whether the items could be returned as many could not (?). I first had to call to inquire about how to make a return because there were limited details on their site. ![]() When I went to return, there were too many hoops to jump through. Ultimately, though, they didn't fit the design for my project. So overall the Scout 160 is a bigger/wider board.I received my items quickly and they were as described on the website. The Merc 58W is more like 270mm at the front insert (307mm at contact point) and 272mm at the back insert (307mm at contact point). The Scout 160 will be around 279mm at the front insert (321mm at the nose contact point) and 272mm at the back insert (307mm at tail contact point). Width-wise, the 160 is going to be wider in the nose but similar in the tail versus the 58W Merc. Not going to ride switch or jumps as well as the Merc but better in powder. Like you say the Scout does has taper (and it’s fairly aggressive taper) and is more directional – and has an overall quite different feel to the Merc. I wish more companies would publish nose/tail lengths as well as their widths as well! On the Scout the nose is around 2cm longer than the tail. And that’s why your Merc’s setback will seem like more – because that has a subtly longer nose than tail as well. The Scout does have a longer nose than tail, so there will still be a setback on the overall length of the board, even thought the stance is centered on effective edge. But the published setback stance is always setback on effective edge. But the 2020 model had a 2″ (50mm) setback. I haven’t ridden it since the 2020 model and nothing else has changed since then re its specs. So they must have moved the insert pack, since I rode it. I’ve seen now that they’re showing it as having a centered stance. Was a fun board in the trees - even though it was quite hard in there - would love to get it in the trees on a powder day. Was fine in crud and was really good for bumpy uneven terrain, going over or weaving in between. Limited to how good at speed it is, being mid-flex, but for it's flex it handled speed well. Speedĭecently stable at speed, without being an out and out bomber. Skidded Turns: Not what I would call easy to skid turns on but also not super hard, either. Maneuverability at slow speeds: Nice and nimble at slow speeds ![]() Carving & TurningĬarving: Surprised me how good this was for carving - but then again there is a fair bit of camber, so shouldn't have been that much of a surprise. Would particularly like to get this board in powder in the trees, given how nimble it is too. Unfortunately didn't get much in the way of fresh snow to test it in, but felt good in the small amount I got.Īnd the specs are well suited to powder - good surface area, rockered nose, setback, and some taper. Ideally that would be the measure but surface area is a rarely published spec. I imagine the weight per surface area might still be on the heavier side but not as much as the weight per length suggests. However, it is quite a wide board for it's length. The Scout is quite a bit heavier than normal. *based on a small sample size of 51 boards that I've weighed in 20 models. Width at Inserts: 275mm (10.83") at front insert and 268mm (10.55") at back insert ![]()
